RF and Microwave Engineering Services
Straight RF, LLC provides RF and microwave engineering services for defined projects, difficult technical problems, and organizations needing additional senior-level engineering support. Engagements can range from a focused consultation or design review to the development and implementation of a complete circuit.
RF and Microwave Circuit Design
Circuit design services include filters, matching networks, amplifiers, oscillators, mixers, couplers, baluns, frequency synthesizers, transceivers, and other RF and microwave circuitry. Design experience includes PCB, thin-film, and RFIC technologies at frequencies extending to 80 GHz.
Radio-System Architecture
System-level services include defining radio architectures, evaluating technical requirements, developing specifications, and identifying performance limitations and design risks. This experience includes point-to-point microwave radios and other receiver, transmitter, and transceiver applications.
Microwave Filter Design
Straight RF specializes in the design and refinement of microwave filters, including planar, lumped-element, and other passive-filter technologies. Services can include synthesis, circuit modeling, electromagnetic simulation, physical implementation, and investigation of unexpected measured performance.
EM Simulation
Straight RF owns Sonnet Software for planar electromagnetic simulation of filters, matching networks, transmission-line structures, launches, transitions, couplers, RFIC passives, and other high-frequency layouts. HFSS, Maxwell 3D, Q3D, CST, and other simulation tools can also be used when appropriate licensing is provided or arranged.
RF PCB Design and Review
RF-focused schematic and PCB services address stackup, grounding, controlled-impedance transmission lines, component placement, isolation, transitions, and unintended electromagnetic coupling. Straight RF owns a perpetual Altium Designer license.

Independent Design Review and Troubleshooting
An independent review can identify technical risks before fabrication or help explain why an existing prototype does not perform as expected. Reviews can cover system architecture, schematics, component selection, PCB layout, simulation models, measured results, and proposed corrective actions.
Engineering Consultation and Training
Focused consultation and training are available for RF/microwave design, Sonnet, HFSS, Altium Designer, and related engineering subjects. Assistance can be provided remotely through telephone or online meetings and, when appropriate, on site within Silicon Valley or the San Francisco Bay Area.
Development and Prototype Support
Straight RF maintains a limited in-house engineering bench for design exploration, prototype bring-up, and informal diagnostic measurements. This capability supports circuit development but is not offered as calibrated production, qualification, or regulatory-compliance testing.
